As an organization, we constantly strive to contribute positively to our planet and our surroundings by utilizing technology and innovative solutions. In line with this vision, the Desire Foundation has recently launched an initiative that combines sustainability and women empowerment
Cloth Bag Vending Machines By installing these machines in local Sabji Mandis and grocery stores, we aim to reduce plastic waste and promote the use of cloth bags made by rural women’s groups. This initiative not only addresses environmental concerns but also empowers these women economically.
The first machine was unveiled last week by City Mayor Dr. Somya Gurjar, and Desire Foundation Chairperson, Mrs. Ruchi Khandelwal in the presence of Parshad Mr. Abhishek Saini, LalKothi Sabzi Mandi Adhyaksh Mr. Rajkumar Madan, local vendors, and customers. The vending machine is solar-powered, and dispenses cloth bags after scanning a QR code for an INR 5 payment.
Dr. Gurjar highlighted the negative impact of plastic bags on the environment in her speech, stressing the importance of adopting cloth bags as an eco-friendly alternative. She also shared her personal commitment to carrying cloth bags and encouraged others to follow suit.
To commemorate the inauguration, the Desire Foundation distributed cloth bags and refreshments to the public. This initiative reflects our dedication to promoting sustainable living practices while empowering rural women.
